Ephesians 6:13.. "Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm."
An opponent who sits down or lays down in war is in a vulnerable position. Our enemy--the devil--is waiting for us to sit down. He is waiting for us to give up the fight, and he is continually attacking us, and will not relent, until we sit down and give up. Here's the question for us this morning: Will we give up? Will we remain standing? Or perhaps the question for us this morning is this: Are we even standing now?
Are you standing? Here are some key signs that may be in your life that you are not standing..
You are extremely susceptible to temptation.
You have not read your Bible regularly, that is the sword of the Spirit that is the Word of God.
You bask in the weight of your guilt and shame without taking up the breastplate of righteousness.
You are always anxious, not standing with the shoes of the gospel of peace.
You don't pray, but rather try to overcome your sin on your own.
Surely many more signs could be named, but those are a few for you this morning.
Listen, Christian: The Lord has given you the ability to take up his armor, so why have you not put it on? Stop feeling weak. Stop feeling vulnerable. Instead, take up the armor of the Lord, and stand firm.
Are you standing? If not, you have no excuse. The Lord has given you his armor. Don't leave it sitting in the barracks. Stand up, put your armor on, and join the fight.
For God did not call us to sit. He called us to stand. Are you standing?
