Romans 10:13: The Gospel

Romans 10:13.. "For 'everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'"

What is the Gospel? What is the Good News? What is the Story of Christ? It is this, and only this, that "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Who? Everyone. This is the pastor's kid. This is the heroine addict. This is the police officer. This is the sex trafficker. This is the politician. This is the homeless man. This is me. This is you. This is the Gospel.

How? By calling on the name of the Lord. This is the murderer on death row repenting of his sin and accepting the grace of Christ Jesus. This is the 4th grade Awana kid believing in Jesus Christ for the first time. This is the child in the wilderness of Africa who just heard the Gospel and responds by giving up all he has to follow Christ. This is the man who is close to getting a divorce, visits a church, and finds Jesus. This is the atheist admitting his pride and repenting of his sin. This is the Gospel.

What? Will be saved. This is the Christian kid who finally has made his faith his own and can now fully embrace the fact that he will spend all of eternity with his Creator. This is the rapist whose sins are now covered by the cross. This is the orphan without hope finding eternal hope in the promise of Christ. This is the Catholic realizing that he cannot obtain righteousness on his own and accepts the work that Christ has done for him on the cross. This is the teenager who no longer has to go to bed in fear because he is no longer a child of his alchoholic father, but is now a son of God. This is the wife who was always told she was a failure now realizing that Christ has done she could not do on her own. This is the old man on his death bed finally confessing all of his hidden sin and choosing Christ moments before the end of his life so that he might live forever. This is the Gospel.

Who is the Gospel for? Everyone.

How does one attain the Gospel? By calling upon the name of the Lord.

What does the Gospel do? It SAVES.
