Romans 8:32.. "He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?"
Here's the question for you: What do you want?
Seriously, answer that question: What do you want?
And in case you still didn't answer it, let me ask it again: What do you want?
Ultimately, the answer to this question shows us our sin struggles. There is nothing that we ought to want more than Christ, but so often we do want other things more than him. So often we want relationships, money, sex, fulfillment, and a list of other things more than we want Christ. Surely we have gone astray.
However, there is great hope found in Romans 8:32. God promises to give us "all things." The argument is simple: if God already gave us his son, how will he hold anything back from us? Look at it this way: if you sold the most valuable thing that you have to pay for a surgery that would save your sons life, would you not also take the $10 out of your wallet if that were not enough? That is the very argument here. God has already given the highest price, and therefore he will give us "all things."
So, back to the original question: What do you want? What I do not attempt to say here (because I don't think it is what God is saying here) is that God will give you whatever you want. So often, we want the wrong things, and if God were to give those things to us, it would be to our detriment. However, God does not promise to give us what we want, but rather to give us all things. In other words, he promises to give us much better than what we want. He promises to give us what he wants for us. He promises to give us his everlasting love that we cannnot be seperated from (Romans 8:38-39), freedom from condemnation (Romans 8:1), and all of the other blessings listed in Romans.
So, what do you want? Do you want money, food, and temporal fulfillment? Then, STOP! Desire the things of God first and foremost. When Paul says that God will surely give us all things, he does not list a set of temporal, worldly pleasures. Rather, he lists the love of Christ and the freedom from condemnation. Therefore, you ought to want these things above all else. Stop desiring things that are less than what God wants to give you. Dream big, because you serve a big God...because all things are ours in Christ.
