Weekly Update #12: Pumpkins and Bizzle and Werewolves, Oh My!

Well, if I was able to summarize this past week into two words, it would certainly be crazy experiences. Let me name a few...

This week Boyce College StuCo held their annual "Fall Party." It was a typical fall party with typical fall activities, one of which was a pumpking carving competition. My group of friends and I decided that we really wanted to win the competition, so we (or should I say, those in the group who were more artistic than I am) decided to carve our Dean's face into a pumpkin. [Note: I did all of the "manly" part of the pumpkin carving...cutting open the top and ripping out the seeds and orange gooey stuff...just sayin'.] See video below.

There was also a free concert held at Boyce last night, including the artists "Flame" and "Bizzle"...yes..."Bizzle." They are both Christian rap artists (one of which is an alumnus of Boyce College), which certainly isn't my thing, but hey! It was free, and now I can say that I've been to a Christian rap concert (in the Alumni Chapel of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, nonetheless).

Our hall also walked down Hillcrest this week, which is a street in Louisville that is decorated with a bunch of Halloween decor. It wasn't all that "scary" for say, but it was definitely interesting. My favorite part was when I started playing "Thriller" and danced like a werewolf. Yup, that's me.

There are many more experiences that I could share in my past week, some that are fun and others that are challenging. Nevertheless, you all (y'all?) can be assured that I'm having fun and that God is teaching me many things. Over the past week, I got to connect with a ton of friends, spend some extra time reflecting on what I'm learning, and enjoy the beauty of my God in all that I did.

Praises..

1. Starfish. God has provided me with an opportunity to mentor a sophomore boy in the church I am attending here. Praise the Lord.

2. More Starfish. God has provided me also with an opportunity to minister at a local aboriton clinic here in Louisville. There is a group that visits the clinic every Friday and tries to have conversations with the girls going in and tell them of the other solutions that are available, as well as the Gospel. Praise the Lord.

Prayer Requests..

1. Focus. Both in my spiritual life and in schoolwork.

2. Strength/Perseverance in Schoolwork. College is hard (see last week's update).

3. Wisdom, Self-control, and Patience.

4. Homesickness. I miss you all dearly, and I didn't notice it until late last night. I love you so much, mom and dad. The only reason I miss you so much is because you were such amazing parents. See you soon.
