Weekly Update: I Got a Job!

Remember how I mentioned how I got a call back for an interview in my last weekly update? Well, it all worked out! I actually started last Friday, and already have eleven hours under my belt! It's another job at Culver's which is nice because (1) I don't have to go through job training, (2) I will keep up with my hours and be able to apply for their scholarship again, and (3) who doesn't like Culver's?!? The Lord's provision for me in the past week was truly evident in me obtaining this job. I applied on Sunday and started on Friday, and I am making $1 more per hour than I was at home. God is truly great. He supplies our every need (Phil. 4:19).

Also also last week, we had an event called "Man to Man with Dr. Mohler." Man to Man is an only-guy even where Dr. Mohler comes to talk to us on, well, what it means to be a man. It was truly an amazing experience, and I wish I could say more, but I was told that "what happens in Man to Man stays in Man to Man."

Another great experience happened last week as well. A group of buddies and I that meet every Wednesday for a Bible study decided to share our testimonies. It was truly a great experience of telling of God's graces in each of our lives. It helped bond us together as well as praise God for all that he has done. Such a blessing from the Lord it is to be in a college where I can have friends who do these types of things with me!

There are truly many more experiences I could tell you about this week (it was a great and exciting week!), but I will keep it at that for now so you're not stuck reading this all day (perhaps I should do a video message next week...text or email me "#VideoUpdate" if you want one. If I get ten people to ask for one, I'll do it).

Prayer Praises

  • The Lord's neverending love and mercy upon a wretched sinner like me.

  • My new job!

Prayer Requests

  • Personal Contentment and Perseverance. Adding elevenish hours of work to my weekly schedule isn't going to be easy. Pray that I might be content with the things I have to give up because of my new job (like watching Calvary's livestream every Saturday, which made me extremely sad) as well as a peace of mind knowing that this is what I need to do in order to keep up with college payments.

  • Opportunities for Evangelism at Work.

  • Physical Strength. It's going to take a few weeks to get used to working from 5 to close at a fast food restaurant again, especially as I'm doing one of the hardest jobs up front (not to mention that I didn't clock out until 11:08 on Saturday night). Also, intermural futsal (indoor soccer) starts this week, which I'm super excited about (stay tuned for next week's update!), but it's going to be taxing on my body. Pray for physical strength and wisdom for when to rest.

Thank you all for reading! Talk to you again next week!

Peace be with you,

Matthew.
